Renew a Passport by Mail

By Mail (renewal of 10 year passports only)

To avoid long waiting times, we encourage applicants to renew their passport by mail.

Make sure to mail your passport application DS-82 together with the payment to:

You may apply by mail using the printed online application Form DS-82  if:

  • You can submit your most recent passport;
  • You hold a passport valid for 10 years issued within the last 15 years; and
  • You are not requesting a change in the passport data, other than a name change due to marriage or divorce for which you can submit official documentation (original marriage certificate or original court order) to support the name change;
  • You were at least 16 years old when your most recent passport was issued;

Effective November 24, 2017, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Brussels, Belgium will no longer accept credit card payments for passport applications by mail. From now on, we will accept only money orders and cashier’s checks/official checks in EURO (in Belgium also known as bankcheque/cheque bancaire) for mail in passport renewals. Cashier’s checks/official checks must be made out for an amount of €99 to “U.S. Embassy Brussels”. Please enclose the check along with your application which should be sent to:
